Lord Virupaksh was worshipped in Royal Temple Hampi,So Sandalwood trading was common there.One day a Portuguese trader reached there .He brought three Arabian horses to sell and buy sandal wood,He had done the deal with a Sandal Wood trader.The Sandalwood Trader wanted to gift those horses to the King,when he gave them as gift the king enquired through minister ,who had a grudge against him and wanted to take revenge .He contacted to toll tax officer and asked him if any Portuguese trader had entered with three Arabian horses in Humpi and paid road tax,The officer checked and said no Portuguese trader entered in Humpi with three Arabian horses,Minister said the trader is lying and broken the rules,The king agreed and put him in prison for one year.Trader’s wife rushed to Tenali Rama.Tenali Rama said,”I know your husband is innocent ,I my self seen the Portuguese trader with three Arabian Horses to your husband’s shop,then asked her to write a letter to the king,”A Goan trader of sandalwood had taken 200 KG sandalwood from my shop, promised that he would send me the payment after reaching Goa,But I have not received any money.”The king sent it to Governor of Goa,The Trader got arrested,but he said to the Governor that he is innocent and it was a false accusation ,he came to Vijaynagar with his permission to clear the charge imposed on him then Royal Court summoned both the parties,the Portuguese said I bought sandalwood in exchange of three Arabian horses.”The King said,”You have smuggled the horses in Vijaynagar ?”He replied ,”Not at all ! I Paid the toll tax,look at the receipt,he showed the receipt,King saw it,he had paid 30 gold coins.”The king felt ashamed ,he released the sandalwood trader,and asked the Portuguese to forgive.”The King asked the trader’s wife,”Why had you imposed false charge ?”Tenali Rama said,”There was no other way.He described the whole story in detail.King Krishnadevraya immediately dismissed the toll tax officer.The Minister was publicly rebuked,criticized .
