There Was a Demon named Durgam.He wanted to defeat GODS.He thought”It is not easy to defeat GODS because they have got many divine powers.I should do something to weaken their powers so that I can defeat them”Then he thought”GODS all real powers are “Vedas”{Hindu Holy Books}I should hide them,and this will make GODS weaker and then I can defeat them.Bramha Jee{Creater of the world according to Hindu Mythology}are taking care of “Vedas”so he went to Himalayan range for Hard Prayers to please him.He did it for one thousand years,he did not eat and did not drink any thing in this period.Bramha Jee became very happy ,he appeared and said”Open your eyes,and ask what ever you want.”Durgam opened his eyes and said”Give me all “Vedas”and give me powers to deafeat ,so that I could defeat GODS”Hearing this Brmhajee shocked,but he was bound ,so he had to say”o.k.”From that very moment,Brahmins started forgetting “Vedas”and it became a big dis order on the earth,they thought”We are forgetting all our customs,and holy activities”Now GODS also not receiving”Part of Havi”{Returns of Holy deeds}so they started growing weak,old,and their powers were being weaken.Seeing this Durgam thought “It is the best time to attack,and he attacked “Amaravati”{Where GODS live}GODS were not expecting this they thought”Durgam’s body is looking like a rock,and we are very weak,we all together ,can’t defeat him,they started praying “Shakti”maa,Brahmins went to Himalayan Range for prayers,”Shakti maa”appeared,they requested”We are losing  our Powers without “Vedas”,There is no rain on the earth,all the rivers,ponds,wells are drying,and every where there is drought,all living beings are facing very tough time.Hearing all these,hundreds of water streams started flowing from her eyes,and rivers ponds and wells are now full of water.They Thanked her and said”Because these hundreds of streams we will call you”Shatakshi”you please get back all “Vedas”and save us”She said”I have come to save you,don’t worry.I will finish the demon and get back all “Vedas”All GODS and Brahmins made a big round like battle field,Shatakshi called Durgam and said”I am here to defeat you,you have to fight with me”Durgam said”I will fight with GODS I don’t want to fight with a lady”She said they are safe in my shelter,you can not reach there.”Then It was a big war between the Demon and Maa Shatakshi.All the Demons lost the war within ten days,eleventh day Durgam himself went to fight,he stopped his horse cart near Shatakshi’s Horse cart,It was a terrible fight.Lots of arrows  hurt his two eyes,two arms and chest,A glowing light came out of his chest and it vanished in Maa Shatakshi’s body.She finished Durgam,All the GODS and human beings loudly announced”We will worship you as Durgam’s killer Durga.”She happily gave back the “Vedas”to GODS,she said to Bramha jee”Please do not give them to any body,it is your duty to protect”Vedas”.From that day onwards again GODS and Brahmins started there works.
