Birbal was appointed as Minister In
Akbar’s court and he was one of the Nine Jewels of Akbar’s Court.Abdul-Rahim
–Khankhaana,Todarmal,Tansen,Mulla Do
Piyaza,Faizi,Fakir-Aziao-din,Mansingh,Abu’lFazl ibn Mubarak,and Birbal were
nine jewels.Birbal { Mahesh Das} was very near to Akbar,and Akbar used to test
his Memory,but he could never defeat him because Birbal was friendly to him and
sometimes Akbar had to reply.One day suddenly Akbar asked “How many bangles are
there in your wife’s hands?”Birbal said,”I don’t know”they were now climbing
the Palace stairs towards Akbar’s Room,Birbal asked ,”How many stairs are there
in this stair case ?”Akbar said,”I don’t know.”Birbal said,”Every day you climb
these stairs but you don’t know their number,how can I say how many bangles are
there in my wife’s hands.?
