King Sankrati’s son Rantidev was very famous for his hospitality. Not only in ancient India but till Today it is a tradition to welcome guests, wash their feed, offer them candy {Made by sugarcane}and cold water, and if possible offer food also, this is called divine work. The Person removes all his good works who speaks bad words to guests.King Rantidev used to provide immediately the thing whichever was desired by his guests.Thousands of people used to come to him,and after some time he became a poor man.
When he became poor,he left the Palace. He was walking through a jungle with his wife and son.He was a “Kshatriya”{A Caste—who can not do begging, because they are for protecting Country}so he did not do begging and started eating fruits, and roots in Jungle,he accepted only those things from others which were given to him by them.Once they had been to a jungle, where there were no froots, roots and leaves, and even water. The queen and Prince were feeling very weak, all of them did not have food or water for last 48 days.
On 49th day Rantidev came out of that jungle.A man offered him delicious Indian food{Kheer, poori,Haluaa, and Cold water}King Rantidev silently picked that up,Prayed to GOD{Indian Tradition is to pray GOD before eating food}.King Rantidev was thinking”For the first time in my life I will have to eat without giving food to any guest”He was about to put the bite in his mouth,at the same time a Brahmin reached there,King offered him some food, gave his wife’s and son’s share to them,Then he was just about to start eating when a beggar came there,The King gave himsome food, then again a guest came, some hungry dogs were also with him,The King had given the remaining food to that guest and all dogs. Now he had only some water,he was about to drink the water at the same time a funeral man came there,he said”I am very thirsty,Please give me some water”Tears came out of Rantidev’s eyes,he looked up and prayed”O’GOD If you consider this as divine work and want to give me something,
Then Please take back all sorrows from all living beings, and he gave that water to the Funeral man. After his going King Rantidev fainted, but surprisingly Lord Brahma,Vishnu, and Shiva{These are the three Indian GODS for birth, life, and death} appeared there, actually they were the Brahmin,Begger and the Funeral Man and they were testing King Rantidev,He Passed the test so,They took them to heaven.
