Akbar-Birbal—7.
Badshah Akbar was the most liberal
Mughal Emperor.He honoured all religions.He got married to Jodhabai.In his
court many Hindus were there on honourable posts.He founded a new religion
Deen-e-Ilahi,in which he included all good things of different religions,but it
did not work and after his death,it vanished.We all know about his friendly
relations with Birbal,and with all the other eight Jewels of his court.Usually
they all have had their special lunch or dinner together on special occasions.
Once when they were eating
together,birbal used to sit next to Badshah Akbar.With all the delicious things
Brinjal was also served.Akbar said,”How tasty the Brinjal is ? Birbal said ,”
Yes Your Majesty ! It’s a very good vegetable.You know GOD has given it a crown,it
is King of Vegetables.”
Next time on other occasion,again
they were eating together in a common gathering lunch.Akbar saw that brinjal
was served in plates.He wanted to do test Birbal so he said,” How boring the
Brinjal is ?” Birbal immediately said ,” Yes ! Your Majesty,They are really
boring,some people call it “Be-Gun” means,the vegetable which has no food value”
Akbar got surprised hearing this,he
said,”Birbal ! On that day you were praising Brinjal,and today you are
criticizing it ? Why ?
Birbal said ,” I am loyal to you your
majesty not to Brinjal” Akbar laughed loudly and Birbal accompanied.
