Heaven in the Garden –
King Krishnadevraya ruled Vijyanagaram from 1509 to 1529 he was the most powerful king of that period.Some Portuguese travellers visited his state that time.Tenaliramakrishna or Tenaliramlingam was a Tulugu poet and was in King Krishnadevraya’s court.Some short folk tales are very popular about him,I am trying to write some which I heard.
One day King Krishnadevraya in his court said isn’t there any place like heaven on the earth,Why not your majesty ,but you need to spend some money and wait for some time.
How much money ?
About 10 thousand gold coins.
The King ordered the treasurer to give Tenaliram the required money.
Tenaliram had have already a Mango Orchard at the boundary of the capital,He went there ,and planted some flower plants,got fitted some fountains ,some beautiful swings and some artificial streams .Then he requested King Krishnadevraya to come with him to see a place like heaven.King with all courtiers visited the garden,the gardener served fresh and sweet mangoes to all courtiers.The cool breeze ,and the birds Chirping,colourful butterflies,and tasty mangoes,It was really heavenly.King Krishnadevraya became happy and gave a big prize money to Tenalirama.
