Stubborn Bramhin : { A true
experience}
Once upon a time in Avantika there
lived a Brahmin.He had spent many years in caves of Himalayas doing hard
prayers.After many years of hard practises he came back to his own town.In
Hinduism ,those who leave the world and become “Sadhu”{Saint}never come back in
family life,Though they live in the world but they have no relationships in
this world.They never go back to their home,to meet their parents or {wife if
they have }They don’t have any attraction towards their own property.They live
their own life on “Bhiksha”{ Begging }In Hinduism –traditionally Bramhins do
all types of sanskars ,{Puja}without them nothing can be done,Name ceremony,First
doing reading writing ceremony,wedding ceremony and after death many rituals
get done by them.They are entitled to take “Dakshina”{Money} for all this and
for day to day also previously they used to go door to door,saying,”Bhiksham
Dehi”means give me some thing.Students living in Gurukuls also were entitled
for “Bhiksha”.The base line of this thought was—Brahmins are doing studies of
all Vedas,Puran,Upnishad,Smriti and they are teaching also and doing all types
of Sanskars, Later on many demerits entered in all these good things and it
starts working like a business.
Those days my mother was working as a
Principal in M.P.’s one small village. My father used to come to meet us once
we all were going together by train to our home town as Summer Vacations
started.It was eight to ten hours journey by train.The train stopped,It was a
big station,I was sitting near window,Suddenly that Sadhu appeared there,My
father was sitting near front seat window,He said to my father,”Baccha !{Son}
bahut bhookh lagi hai khane ke liye das rupaye de de}Means I am very hungry
give me 10 Rs.to eat food,10Rs.was quite big amount in 1958,so my father gave
him 1 Rupee coin,and Oh My GOD,his face became red,eyes more red ,he was
holding the coin tightly in his fist, he waved his arm up,and then water
started dropping from that fist we all and other passengers were shocked seeing
this scene,after one minute he opened his fist and the coin vanished and there
was no trick because he was just wearing a small cloth.My father immediately
took out a ten rupee note and gave him.He went away.Later on when once my
father was describing this incident to one of his friend living in that town,he
said,,”The Sadhu is known “Hath Yogi”and did hard “Tapasya” in Himalayas ,He
does not ask”Bhiksha” from all. Rarely people could see him he is living at the
bank of “Shipra”river.I still remember the incident,and I feel proud of
Hinduism and depth of religion.
