Leela—18
Life was good,We used to go movies on Sundays,or in Parks, and visit to relatives {both side} some times. The happiest time was on while suddenly 1958 Leela was transferred to Mandsaur’s “Lakshmi Bai ucchtar Kanya Vidyalay”as lecturer My father never liked journeys by train, crowd at the platform and at the gate of the compartment always made him worried,But Leela was very bold and ready to go on this promotion,She packed her luggage,Ramesh Birthare was with us.We reached to the new place,Leela joined her school, and then we went to search the rented house,We found one in “Nai Aabadi”witch was incomplete, but we decided to get it as there was no option,we were promised to provide better one after a month exactly in front of that house.Next day Mummy and Ramesh took me to a new school,”Shishu Mandir”.I was happy,I never felt hesitated with any new thing.I started going ,and found new friends there. One of my best friend was “Tara”She was the most rich man “Seth Lakshmichand’S daughter she had have one elder sister also there in school, named “Chanda”.Tara’s Lunch box was brought every day by her driver, fresh and warm, and she used to share it with me every day. After lunch, costly chocolates,I can never forget the taste. In a month we shifted to the newly built house in front of the recent one. There was a hill across the back street and thousands of fireflies could be viewed every evening like stars. There was one more family there with five children,Shobha,Sulbha,Sudhir,Sushma, and Sushil, two elder sisters were studying in Leela’s school and the three younger {two brothers and a sisters were studying in “Shishu Mandir”It was a great fun for me to play with them,go to school with them.
My father used to come there once in a month by adjusting his cases dates, but he could not have much time to get mixed up with the people living around ,although we had been to picnics to “Ashoka Stambh”and some historical places with other families living in neighbourhood .
Mrs.Nagarkar was the principal of Leela’s school and Leela became the most responsible person for her.Leela never hesitated doing more work, and so she could get the experience,The complete staff started respecting her,as Leela was a very loving mother like or elder sister like for them,Used to listen every one’s problem and try her best to sort it out.Not only for the colleagues but for students also.
In 1960 Jan on words Leela was on her maternity leave and we came back to Indore,I was again in “Bal-Mandir”.On 27th March we were blessed with a “Nanhi Pari” my younger sister “Anupama”I named her nick name “Bably”.
One funny thing I remember,I used to get different snacks in this school. On that very day I got biscuits, but I was not eating,My teacher Pushpa Bahanjee asked “Nirupama ! Why are you not eating ?”I said,”I will take it home for my younger sister”She laughed loudly said”She will not eat now”but I did not trust her and took the biscuits at home,My elder Aunty,{father’s elder most sister }and my mummy told me the same,I ate them.
