Grandma's Stories--863--A Folk Tale From Dar-es-salaam !!

Vatusi was a helmsman and used to sail his boat in Tanganyika lake in Dar-es-salaam.He used to pick passengers from Dodoma and helped them reaching Dar-es-salaam.It was the source of earning for his livelihood .He was happy and satisfied.He was a simple man and a skilled Helmsman.Once there was a big storm with rain and thunder,he decided not to sail the boat,He went inside the hut and slept.A Priest was offered big money by one of his follower in Dar-es-salaam,the Priest could not resist himself and went to search Vatusi in his hut.He asked Vatusi to sail the boat.Vatusi said,"it is very dangerous to sail in this storm,but the Priest assured him,"If I will be there in your boat nothing will happen to you and your boat.Vatusi then agreed.When he asked about fare,the Priest said,"Your life would be blessed because of the four good fruitful things I am going to preach you."Unwillingly Vatusi helped him sitting in the boat,and started sailing.and said," Tell me the four fruitful things"The Priest asked,"Have you remembered GOD ?"Vatusi said,"I don't get time I sail boat day and night."Priest said,"Then you have wasted one third  of your life.""Do you know the accounting ? "Vatusi said,"No""Then you have wasted your two third of life."Vatusi was sad ,just then a big wave disturbed the sailing,The Priest said,"Vatusi save the boat"Vatusi asked ,"Do you know swimming ?"The Priest said,"No"Vatusi said,"Then you have wasted your whole life."The boat capsized by strong waves." The Priest was trying to save himself."Vatusi felt pity and pulled him in the boat."He thanked Vatusi again and again for saving his life.Gave him a bag full of coins to buy a new boat.
