Bribery –
The Court was on .All the courtiers were on their seats.King Krishnadevraya was on his throne,while Tenali Rama entered in the court.He had have a beautiful Jewellery box of red velvet in his hands,and he was moving that box while wishing every one and talking to every one.Every one noticed that box.No body asked him about it but King Krishnadevraya called him near and asked,”Beautiful box Tenali Ram.Let me see it”Tenali Ram gave it to the king,King opened it and his eyes opened wide with great surprise,because precious jewels were shining in the box.He just had have a look with many questions at Tenali Rama.
Tenali Rama replied,”I have not bought your honour,I am not that rich can buy these precious jewels,This is a gift.”Now King Krishnadevraya more surprised ,Who is so rich in Vijay Nagar distributing so precious gift.”He asked ,”Are you the only man got this gift ?””No your honour the most of the citizens these all courtiers and high officials –All got such boxes with same content”Again its time to be more surprised ,He asked who gave these and why ?Tenali Rama said “It is given by the tax officer on the occasion of his daughter’s marriage.”King said ,”I know him he has not inherited much from his parents,in fact he belongs to a very normal family and his salary is also that much to afford such precious gifts then how has he done this”Tenali Rama said “Salary is not much but Bribery gives him quite good money” He used to exempt big amount of taxes and take small amount for her pocket,Direct loss to your treasury.”King Krishnadevraya got angry ,he immediately called the Tax officer,and announced hard punishment for him,and ordered to snatch all his property and deposit it in the Royal treasury .”
