Long long ago in Swarglok { Indian GOD’S heaven}a beautiful Dancer of heaven Menka{Apsaraa}was cursed by GOD,and she got punishment to live on the earth.She had given a work to attract Maharshi Vishwamitra,At that time he was doing Tapasyaa{Hard Prayers without food,water and sleep}All the GODS intended to spoil his Prayers as it was assumed that he could ask their Throne too, after finishing his prayers.Menka tried to brake his Tapasyaa with her dance and she got succeeded,they got a daughter named Shakuntala with this relationship.Menka came out of the curse and went to Devlok{Heaven}but young Shakuntala was living in a hut in the jungle .
One day king Dushyant came there for hunt,he saw Shakuntala and fell in love with her,she also liked him,They got married ,it was a “Gandharv Vivaah”{type of marriage in which there are no other friends or relatives to attend it}Dushyant lived there for many months and then one day he said”I have to go back to my Kingdom”Shakuntala was sad,she said “How would I come there?”
The king gave her his ring and said”Show this to the guards of the Palace,and they will bring you to me”The king went.The ring was loose and she dropped it in the river during bath.A fish swallowd it immediately.Shakuntala was sad and was doing only one work,remembering Dushyant.”at the same time Rishi Durwasa called{Bhikshaam Dehi}means Give me something to eat,Shakuntala was sitting in front of the door but did not react,Durwasa Rishi was known for his anger,he called twice and third time he put some water in his hand from his kamandal{water pot}threw it with the words of curse “The man will forget you about whom you are dreaming in the day time”Shakuntala listened last words,ran to the Rishi,touched his feet and asked him to withdraw his curse,Knowing the truth,Durwasa’s heart melted and he said”if you can show him any symbol of love then only he can recognize you.” Shakuntala had already lost the symbol,she was pregnant,she went to the deep jungle,started living in a cave,she gave birth a child,she named him Bharat.He was a very brave boy,he used to play with Lions and Tigers in his childhood.One day a fish reached in the Royal Kitchen,the cook found the ring when he was cutting the fish,he recognized it because of the King’s name written on it,he went running to the king,The king remembered everything,he went to the Jungle,brought Shakuntala and Bharat with respect in the Palace.Bharat became the king of that kingdom,after Dushyant.India’s name “BHARAT”was given after the name of this king Bharat.
