Mahabharata---
A conversation was going on between
Yudhishthir and Duryodhan.Duryodhan said,”Every body call you Dharmraj.It is
good to follow Dharm{Religion} but Truth is also a Religion.If we accept truth
and follow it we can save Religion.
Yudhishthir said,”You are right ! but
it is not easy to leave a Kingdom of your own ,in the name of followingTruth.My
father served whole life to people by giving good governance ,increase
treasury.The systems applied by him,and the rules made by him are perfect,it
would not be good to destroy them.We are progressing by following those
rules.Our people are happy with us.
Duryodhan said,”Power and morality
don’t live together.I think your moral is swallowed by the power.If it is not
like that you must not hesitate to give power to us,because we are entitled to
have the right. Legally and traditionally .
My father Dhratrashtra was blind by
birth,so he agreed to give the right only to govern to uncle Pandu,he did not
hand over the kingdom to him.,”Working for a kingdom does not mean the ownership
of the Kingdom,You know it better.That person can be the chief Commandor,or
prime minister. Definitely your father
was incharge ,no doubt he did good work,but to betray blind elder and capture
the kingdom is not good.”
Yudhishthir said,”Duryodhan you are
innocent,you even don’t know to care your self,Kingdom is a big responsibility.You
all are in desciplined and short
tempered ,so to hand over the kingdom to you is not at all possible,because it
means to destroy the Kingdom.Traditions and rules change with the time.Even If
I agree with your logic ,it is not possible to handover the kingdom to you.
Duryodhan understood that to accept
justice from pandawas is useless.But still he repeated his request ,”Yudhishthir
! Your father is not alive but my father is alive,if you trust him we can
ask,otherwise whatever people’s assembly
will decide,we need to accept.
But Yudhishthir neither was ready to
go to Dhratarashtra,nor calling people’s assembly.He knew that the real
successor of the throne is Duryodhan.Tradition and law both are in favour of
Duryodhan. Morally we are not entitled for it.But he said,”Duryodhan ! kingdom
and Power must be in the strong hands.Uncle Dhratrashtra was weak so was
removed from power.If you want ,you can have a good post in army ,think about
it,and then reply.
Duryodhan was ready to listen it,so
he was listening patiently.Then said,”I think you are in grip of greed.But if
you don’t want to give complete kingdom,we can share 50-50 %,You can have north
part from Yamuna river,and we can have south part of it.
Power can always achieved by hook or
crook,We very rarely find examples of getting the power by luck or by chance.So
Yudhishthir did not agree to give 50% of it.He said,”You can have any post in
our services,you should get benefit of my favour.Bheem and Arjun are not ready
to give you any post.
Duryodhan did not want to make
Pandawas his enemy,he knew their strength,and cleverness.He became more polite
and said,”Yudhishthir I am requesting for
the last time,If you reject it,that will be very unfortunate for both of us.”
Duryodhan said,”We are hundred
brothers,give one village to each.It is not wrong.I don’t want any type of
family dispute.”
Yudhishthir said,”Look Duryodhan !
neither I will share the kingdom,nor going to give you any village,this is a
carved line on stone,Only you can have a post to serve the kingdom.This is my
first and last reply.You are free to decide.”
Duryodhan said,”Yudhishthir ! You are
right. Kingdom’s Power is always a gift of hooks and crooks.I am also going to follow
these,and I will never give five villages or soil equal to the tip of a
needle,even after your begging.And then he went to his Shakuni Mama,and this
trap made by all crooked ideas,became the root cause of Mahabharat war.
