Grandma's Stories--370--TenaliRam & Aachary !

One day a renowned Aachaary reached Vijaynagar.He challenged the courtiers for a debate.Krishndev Rai accepted the Challenge.The Aachaary was respectfully taken to the guest house.Now all the courtiers said ,”We are not able to face him.” But Tenaliram agreed,and asured him to win.Next day morning Tenaliram came with a bundle hidden and  tied in a cloth,there.Both of the learned  men were sitting in front of one another.Tenaliram asked “Shall we start ?”He said,”I am ready.”Tenaliram said let us start with the simplest work that is “Tilakashtha bandhana—“”What ? He asked.”Don’t you know the simplest thing which a shephard also knows,he felt ashamed,and accepted the defeat,then he asked what was that ? Tenaliram just uncovered the bundle,it was just stalks of sesame plant which is called Tilakashtha,Tenaliram just wanted to tide tem together with a string.All courtiers laughed and King laughed loudly as well.The Aachary felt insulted,he decided to take revenge.Next day the King asked him ” I am very sad as I could not fulfill my motherr’s last wish to eat mango as it was not mango season”The aachary said,”Its very easy you call some bramhins for lunch and give a gold mango eachof them”Aachary did  not inform Tenaliram but he came to know every thing,when all the bramhins coming out with gold mangoes,he requested them to come to his house also,as it was his mother’s death anniversary also,they accepted,when they went inside they saw two persons were heating the rods in fire.They asked why ? Tenaliram said ,”My mother was died of Rheumatism,her last wish was to have her legs known to all as brand,All the Bramhins got scared hearing this they offered their gold mangoes to Tenaliram and ran away.The reached Krishnadev Rai and complained,King got angry and ordered two guards to kill Tenali ram under  at the river’s shore ,Tenaliram asked both to cut off his head together with eyes closed,they agreed,Tenaliram sat down and they missed and he remind them king’s words” Kill him with one sweep “you have lost the chance,they reached the court,Aachary suggested the king to burry him in sand up to neck and be crushed under elephant’s foot,two guards dug a big pit asked him to get down then filled it with mud,then they went to bring the elephant,suddenly a humped washerman appeared there,he asked Tenaliram why he was there like this ,Tenaliram said,”If you want to be straight then take me out and come in place of me if you stand here for one hour,you will come out with straight back.He agreed,and Tenaliram came out,and went to the Court.The King said to the Aacharya It is very clever of him,Its GOD ‘S will ,Tenali should live to make people laugh.
