Grandma's Stories--399--Beggar Maid !!

It was the capital of the country so there are many tall buildings could be seen all over.People were rich and were doing well,ladies were also working.the country was progressing fast due to this dedication of its people towards country but still they could not remove beggary.It was looking a black mark to their country.Many beggars could be found through out the country,outside the railway stations,cinema halls,airports,church and some were roaming one street to another for begging.They didn’t have proper place to sleep even and found laying in the parks,or footpaths.This is a story about one lady who was very poor,living under the railway bridge.She had made a hut like thing on her own there.No body had seen her begging but had never seen her going to do any work as well.she was above middle age.She was fair and good looking and seem to be a part of respected family in her torn attires .two street dogs were sitting out of that hut and she used to be very kind and caring for them.It was one unfortunate day children were coming back from school while it was heard a huge sound,it was earthquake,many big buildings were falling like toy buildings.About fifteen children of 10 to 15 years old,were walking on the foot path,got scared, The lady was also out side her hut as the two dogs were barking differently before the earthquake.she called the children loudly and they run to her,and they all hid themselves.They all came out after fifteen minutes tried to walk outside but most of the buildings were laying on the ground,they heard big shriek and scream every where,Fire brigade and police vans were coming, big cranes were brought there,dead bodies were being taken out,and alive hurt were being sent to the hospitals,by ambulances.The Fifteen children were lived safe in that lady’s hut for next ten days,Police then tried to find their parents and helped them sending home,the lady was honoured by the government,and appointed as chief of the department of social work,trying to remove beggary,and the results were quite fruitful,all the beggars were now sincere social workers doing hard work and earning.
